The short version

QuestBar doesn't collect, track, or share anything about you. Your quests live on your devices and, when iCloud sync is on, in your own private iCloud. We never see them, and nothing is sent to our servers.

This website (questbar.app) uses basic analytics so we can see which pages are useful. That is separate from the app and is covered in “About this website” below.

Data storage & sync

Your quests are stored on your device by the app. When iCloud sync is turned on (it's on by default, and you can turn it off on any device in Settings), your quests also sync across your Apple devices through your own private iCloud, using Apple's CloudKit. That data lives in your iCloud account under Apple's privacy terms; Modest Industries has no access to it, and it is never sent to any server of ours.

On Mac, QuestBar also keeps a plain-JSON copy of your quests (openable from the QuestFile menu) that you can back up, edit, or delete at any time.

What the app doesn't do

Network access

QuestBar works fully offline. The only network activity is iCloud sync, and only when you have it enabled: the app talks to your private iCloud (Apple) to keep your devices in step. It makes no other network requests and contacts no servers of ours.

Your control

You're in control of your data. Add, edit, or delete quests anytime, and turn iCloud sync off on any device to keep that device's quests local to it.

About this website

This site, questbar.app, uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find helpful. It may set cookies in your browser to do this. That is ordinary website analytics, it is completely separate from the app, and it tells us nothing about your quests. The app itself stays entirely offline.
